Masterchef Winner Adam Liaw coming to South Africa
It‘s the cookery show that has kept thousands of South African viewers gripped to their television sets for the past four months and last night Adam Liaw was named winner of Australian Masterchef, screened on M-Net.
Liaw will be showing what makes him such an exciting cook when he arrives in South Africa next month to take part in the Good Food & Wine Show in Johannesburg.
Said Liaw about his win: “It was extraordinary. I don‘t think I‘d ever been this happy! To all the viewers, the biggest thank you in the world. It‘s a great feeling to know that there have been literally millions of people cheering me on.”
The titled ensured Adam‘s dream of ditching a career signing legal documents to one surrounded by food. His Masterchef prize included publishing his own cookery book Two Asian Kitchens, which will be launched in South Africa at the Good Food & Wine Show, and a cash prize of R750 000.
Having started at university at the age of 16, he graduated five years later with a double degree in Science and Law. While working in Japan as a media lawyer for the Walt Disney company, Adam decided to start a blog about food, www.adamliaw.com.
Since walking away with the MasterChef title he has travelled on more than 120 flights, spent over 150 nights in hotels and covered over 200,000 kilometres and is thrilled to be coming to South Africa.
