The “UNITE OF THE STARS” banquet is happy to announce the latest addition to a spectacular line up of stars for one night only on nov 9th at the Ticketpro Dome in jozi.International recording and Broadway star, DEBORAH COX will join fellow diva’s DIANA ROSS, CHRISTINA AGUILERA, LUCIA MICARELLI for the entertainment coup of 2005.

DEBORAH COX (Aida) is an internationally recognized ­recording artist and Broadway star. In September 2004 Deborah closed with a successful 8 month run as the star in Elton John and Time Rice’s AIDA on Broadway.

In 1995 Deborah Cox, the self-titled debut album (released on Arista Records) was executive produced by Clive Davis, and went gold with the hit singles “Sentimental,” “Who Do U Love” and “The Sound of My Tears.” In 1996 her single “Things Just Ain‘t the Same,” was re-mixed by New York DJ Hex Hector for the Money Talks film soundtrack (starring Chris Tucker and Charlie Sheen).

In 1998, she found continued success and her first platinum album with One Wish (Arista Records), a mix of R&B, hip-hop, gospel, dance and jazz. Deborah scored two Billboard #1 hits with “We Can‘t Be Friends” and her double platinum single “Nobody‘s Supposed to Be Here” which topped the billboard R&B Charts for 14 consecutive weeks making it the longest-running #1 song in R&B chart history as well as the remix becoming a worldwide club-hit.

In 2000, Deborah turned her sights on acting and starred in her first feature film, the Canadian drama, Love Come Down, a gripping tale of two brothers in their early 20s, one black, one white. Cox starred as singer ‘Niko‘ who helps a struggling comedian (opposite Larenz Tate). In February 2000, Deborah secured a recurring role as SF police detective ‘Vanessa Swan‘ on the hit CBS series “Nash Bridges” (starring Don Johnson and Cheech Marin). She also appeared as herself in Showtime‘s “Soul Food,” (episode “Fly Away Home” September 2001).

Some of Deborah‘s Notable Career Accomplishments include a Soul Train Award (Best R&B/ Soul Single); American Music Award Nomination for Best New R&B Vocalist (1997); Lady of Soul ( Best R&B/Soul Song of the year)back-to-back JUNO Awards (Canada) for Best R&B Female Artist (1996 & 1997). Deborah used to sing back up vocals for fellow Canadian and pop diva, Celine Dion. Deborah and husband Lascelles Stephens welcomed their first child, Isaiah Stephens, on July 1, 2003.
